Andrew Russell, Managing Partner, Specialty Commercial and National Practice Leader—Mining, joined BFL CANADA in August 2022. He has 20 years of experience partnering with clients to transform risk into strategic advantage. His expertise covers a wide range of industries, including mining, energy, forestry, marine and aviation.
At BFL CANADA, Andrew is in charge of designing, scaling and optimizing insurance programs that deliver results positively impacting the bottom line. He also manages major construction projects (>US $6Bn CAPEX), large Claims settlements (US$2M – $75M), multinational admitted placements, global insurance programs with values at risk of US $500M to US $15Bn+. He is known for his strategy and execution skills and his leadership enabling him to build high performing teams.
His approach combines deep industry expertise, data-driven insights, and a commitment to challenging traditional models—creating solutions that drive growth and resilience.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Haskayne School of Business (University of Calgary) and a Master of Business Administration degree delivered by Smith School of Business (Queens University).
